For those of you in the Poughkeepsie, NY area that keep up with our blog, you'll quickly recall our last post when we were anxiously awaiting the announcement of Motor Trend's Truck of the Year title, for which the 2014 RAM 1500 was a contender.

We are pleased to report that after careful consideration, the RAM 1500 was selected as the winner for ousting its competitors by offering top torque, fuel economy, style and handy features to its many satisfied drivers.

But these are the only factors considered when a vehicle is put through the ringer to prove its aptitude. Tests include road loops, limit handling, evaluation of towing and payload abilities, and how fast a truck can accelerate and brake. Vehicles are then analyzed on their value, performance, design, engineering, safety, efficiency before the judges cast their votes for Truck of the Year.

"For 2014 we had a large and highly competitive field of contenders for Motor Trend's Truck of the Year," says Edward Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. "At the end of the day, though, the RAM 1500 quickly rose to the top. Not only did it withstand our rigorous testing, it thoroughly impressed our judges with its vast array of standard and optional equipment."1

However, this isn't the first time that the rugged pickup truck has earned this honor. In fact, this is the RAM 1500's second Truck of the Year title in a row, making it the only vehicle to ever win the award consecutively.
