Not so long ago, RAM Trucks gave us the insight that it would be offering the first-ever diesel powered pickup truck in many years. Robert Green Chrysler Dodge Jeep can now say that the brand has delivered with the newly unveiled 2014 RAM 1500.
The new RAM holds the same EcoDiesel 3.0-liter V6 that the Jeep Grand Cherokee does. It can produce 240 horsepower plus 420 pound-feet of torque. The automaker claims that it has the equivalent towing capacity of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and even though the precise fuel economy has yet to be released, Chrysler promises a "best-in-class" rating.
The base 2014 RAM truck's price will start at $24,200 with the option of the V6 EcoDiesel for an additional $2,850. Chrysler says that the increased cost will be made up in three years or less of ownership.
The 3.0-liter diesel won't be the only engine offered. You will also have the ability to obtain a Pentastar V6 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. All engines will come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
You can expect the new RAM 1500 to hit our Monticello, NY showroom in the fall. If you would like to claim one of the first looks at the new pickup, call us with your contact information. We can reach out to you when we receive the one you are looking for. Want a test drive too? Absolutely.
