If you thought that Dodge was finished raising the bar with the SRT Hellcat, you thought wrong. At this year’s New York Auto Show, the Auburn Hills performance automaker took the wraps off the new 2018 Challenger SRT Demon. Packing an upgraded 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8, it has three horsepower ratings, and a street legal certification to beast.
Like the Hellcat, the SRT Demon will come with two keys—red and black. A red key and 100-octane fuel nets you 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque, while regular petrol will garner 808 ponies. The black key, or valet key, tones things down further to 500 horsepower. Whatever your optimum is, the new Demon will offer some pretty sick thrills, especially given its unique drag radials, cooling, and torque management hardware.
If you’ve put this car on your wish list, we’d be more than happy to let you try it when it arrives at our Dodge dealership in Monticello, NY. Given that this will be a lower-volume model, however, be aware that availability may be limited. Contact us for more information.
